Welcome to Furano Ski Resort
Furano is located on the ‘powder belt’ in the centre of Hokkaido, with an annual snowfall of 9m and some of the driest powder snow you will ever experience in your life.
Its central location makes for more bluebird days than other resorts, providing stunning views of the Tokachidake mountain range while you glide down the mountain, and the cold climate enables guests to experience the phenomenon of diamond dust.
What makes Furano special though is its local feel, with all staff, guides, and instructors being residents of Furano, tourists are able to interact with friendly locals for an unforgettable cultural as well as snow experience.
For families who want to have a fun and relaxing time, Furano has an English speaking ski and snowboard school and day care facility catering to foreign guests.
For untouched powder lovers, Furano is also a great base to discover other resorts, ski hills or backcountry mountains in the central Hokkaido area, with Kamui, Tomamu and Asahidake all within day-trip distance (multi-resort lift tickets are also available).
With a 957m vertical drop, 10 lifts including the fastest cable car in Japan, and over 23 trails, Furano ski resort caters to skiers and snowboarders of various abilities, with a “magic carpet“ for first timers, beautifully groomed long courses for those of intermediate ability, and un-groomed runs during the peak season for the more advanced level powder lover.
Access to the ski resort is only an hour bus ride from Asahikawa airport, or a bus or train ride from Sapporo New-Chitose airport and accommodation is all located near the resort, with most being a very short walk to the gondola and lifts.
The resort is only a kilometer from the centre of town, so that access to the post office, supermarkets, convenience stores and other shopping facilities are only a short walk away.
